Lindenwood University is seeking a Professional Advisor within Academic Affairs in St. Charles, IL. You will guide students on degree planning, career options, and opportunities for further study, while supporting retention and student success through proactive advising.

The role emphasizes collaboration with faculty, admissions, and Student Support Services, using campus resources to help students progress on time and achieve their academic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Prior advising and/or higher education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in growth and development by crafting educational plans aligned with abilities and interests.
• Arranges schedules and recommends courses for students.
• Determines adequacy of academic progression based on prerequisites and degree requirements.
• Maintains knowledge of university policies and informs students of implications of deficiencies.
• Conducts student appointments to plan for coming semesters and review long-range schedules.
• Directs students toward self-help tools and services.
• Monitors schedules and informs relevant staff of progress.
• Provides mentoring on career options, graduate studies, or general questions.
• Refers students to institutional resources when issues require intervention.
• Participates in assessment and recommends actions based on data and student persistence.
• Uses retention management system for student communication and early intervention.
