Job summary

Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ seeks a Human Services Academic Specialist for a twelve-month, 35-hour week position. In addition to teaching, you will support students during field placements at local agencies.

The role requires an MSW, teaching and administrative experience in higher education, and knowledge of Blackboard LMS. Travel to field sites is required, with some evenings and weekends. Compensation includes comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) required.
  • New Jersey CSW or LSW licensure preferred.
  • One year teaching experience in higher education.
  • One year administrative experience in higher education.
  • One year experience as a fieldwork liaison in higher education.
  • Two years of program, policy, or management experience in a social work or related field.
  • Sensitivity and commitment to working with a diverse student population.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Blackboard LMS modern technology and its use in the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Travel locally to meet with students and agency representatives at field sites, with some evenings and weekends required.
  • Assist in training and supervision of field liaisons.
  • Participate in curriculum development, course planning and program assessment projects.
  • Utilize research-based data to engage in activities that promote student retention and successful program completion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Human Services Academic Specialist is a twelve‑month (12) month position. In addition to teaching, the Human Services Academic Specialist provides support to students during their field placements at local agencies. This position is based on a thirty‑five (35) hour work week.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

The Human Services Academic Specialist will:

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND BACKGROUND:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW)required.
  • New Jersey Social Work certification (CSW) or licensure (LSW) preferred.
  • One year teaching experience in higher education.
  • One year administrative experience in higher education.
  • One year experience as a fieldwork liaison in higher education.
  • Two years of program, policy, or management experience in a social work or related field.
  • Sensitivity and commitment to working with a diverse student population.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Blackboard LMS modern technology and its use int he classroom.

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Salary is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The salary for this position is $60,000.
