Job description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology, is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. Appointees will provide clinical care at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital NICU and contracted off-site locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. These positions are benefits-eligible.

The Section of Neonatology is committed to excellence in education, research, patient care, and community service. It has 15 full-time faculty members and other academic staff who attend at the 71-bed unit in Comer Children's Hospital and two community hospitals to provide compassionate, evidence-based treatments in nurturing, family-centered environments with state-of-the-art equipment. In collaboration with the Maternal-Fetal Service, the Section runs the University of Chicago Perinatal Network with over 10 affiliated community hospitals.

The section has a fully accredited fellowship program with 10 trainees and a robust neonatal nurse practitioner program. Its faculty members are actively involved in research supported by federal and other extramural funds.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must:

1. have a medical doctorate or equivalent,
2. hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Illinois and Indiana,
3. be Board certified or eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

We especially welcome applicants with experience in quality improvement, ECMO, outcomes research, or analysis of structured EMR data. Assessment of applications will also consider experience administering/directing level II, III, or IV neonatal intensive care nurseries.
