Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Faculty Optometrist in Ophthalmology to join the SOM KC Ophthalmology team. The role combines patient care across comprehensive clinics, teaching medical students and residents, and potential involvement in clinical research within an academic setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Doctor of Optometry, are licensed or eligible in Kansas, and bring a passion for teaching and collaborative care in a university hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed in Kansas or eligible for licensure.
• Board eligible or board certified in Optometry.
• Teaching and research experience are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide optometry services including comprehensive clinics for all ages.
• Participate in didactic teaching and supervise medical students and residents.
• Participate in JayDoc clinics.
• Maintain professional, patient-centered relationships as measured by patient experience surveys.
• Serve on departmental committees and contribute to School of Medicine and University service.
• Engage in clinical research and present findings at national/regional meetings.
• Provide clinical services to the VA and other sites under Professional Services Agreement with KU Health System.
