Job summary

Soni is partnering with a higher education organization to recruit an Academic Manager who will oversee key academic, financial, and HR functions for the department. The role will manage payroll, budgets, personnel records, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of payroll, finance or administration experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to collaborate with faculty, students and staff to support budgeting and operations, and lead initiatives

Qualifications

• 2+ yrs' experience in payroll, finance, or administration.
• Advanced Excel skills required.

Responsibilities

• Manages payroll, reappointment, and payroll processes for student officers, casual staff, and work-study students.
• Oversees related HR transactions, prepares job postings, and collects hiring requests and supporting documentation.
• Coordinates internally to address administrative, visa, and immigration matters.
• Maintains appointment and personnel records, prepares budgets, and tracks expenses for assigned personnel categories.
• Collaborates with faculty, students, and teams to verify status, funding type, payment methods, and support levels.
• Prepares, reviews, and distributes reports related to personnel, onboarding, payroll, and student accounts.
• Identifies opportunities to enhance efficiency, e.g., a departmental student database and automated funding-approval workflow.
• Collaborates with student leaders on annual planning and budgeting.
