Job summary

Albany Medical College’s Department of Anesthesiology seeks fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologists at all ranks to join our obstetric anesthesia faculty as we expand care at our center, the Capital Region's only academic medical center and Level 1 trauma center.

Our practice includes both healthy parturients and medically complex patients, with delivery rates around 2500 annually. More than 50% are high-risk or MFM cases, serving NY counties and eastern Vermont.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or equivalent)
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency
• Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology (required)
• Eligible for New York State medical licensure
• Board-eligible or board-certified by ABMS or foreign equivalent recognized by ABAS

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality anesthesia care for parturients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver didactic and hands-on instruction for residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists.
• Participate in or initiate clinical research projects; scholarly activity is supported and encouraged.
• Work closely with obstetricians, OB residents, L&D nurses, and other perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide guidance and support for trainees and junior faculty in professional and academic growth.
