Job summary

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks a full-time academic neonatologist to deliver comprehensive neonatal care at OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois, a 64-bed Level IV NICU, with opportunities to teach students, residents, and fellows, participate in clinical research and quality improvement, and contribute to regional neonatal services growth.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent medical degree.
  • Residency in pediatrics completed.
  • ACGME-accredited fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine suitable for American Board of Pediatrics certification.
  • Board certification in Pediatrics required.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Neonatology.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Illinois.
  • Eligible for an appointment to the medical staff of affiliated clinical facilities.
  • Eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care for critically ill newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU.
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitation and stabilization.
  • Provide consultation and support for newborn and neonatal services within the affiliated regional network, as assigned.
  • Participate equitably in daytime clinical service, night and weekend call, and holiday coverage.
  • Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, APPs, nurses, respiratory therapists, and others.
  • Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in clinical research, scholarly activity, patient-safety initiatives, and quality-improvement work.
  • Contribute to faculty meetings, committees, curriculum development, mentoring, and academic responsibilities.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation and meet quality and productivity expectations.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
