Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the San Diego Job Corps Center in Imperial Beach, CA, seeking an instructor to provide academic instruction per approved curricula and guide students toward their goals.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or teaching certification within 90 days) and preferred instructional experience with youth. Staff duties include assessment documentation, attendance, and coordinating with community volunteers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or ability to obtain teaching certification within 90 days.
• Experience with youth and strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience with instructional delivery and basic guidance to students.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in designated areas of instruction.
• Administer and correct tests and maintain progress and attendance reports.
• Assist in developing community linkages and volunteers for the department.
• Ensure accountability and report student absences promptly.
• Participate in student assessment panels and document evaluations using CIS and other systems.

What you will be doing:

You'll be responsible for the academic instruction per approved curricula. They will provide training and basic guidance and direction to help students achieve their academic goals.

Essential Functions

• Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in designated areas(s) of instruction
• Administer and correct rests and maintain progress and attendance reports.
• Assist in developing community linkages and volunteers for the department.
• Ensure accountability is taken each period and report student absences promptly.
• Participate in student assessment panels, and perform required documentation and evaluation using CIS (Center Information System) and other documentation systems.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and substitute teaching certification, as required by the state of employment (or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire) or
• One (1) year instructional experience preferred.
• Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication and computer proficiency also required.
