Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a Residential Advisor, Substitute at the San Diego Job Corps Center in Imperial Beach. You will supervise resident students, enforce rules, and support safety and wellbeing while engaging in student development activities.

The role involves varied shifts, documentation, and teamwork with staff and families. Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong written and verbal communication, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors students that live on residential floors to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the Center.
• Fosters an atmosphere conducive to character development through the encouragement of favorable behavior.
• Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance in the event of injury, illness, traumatic experience, and emotionalism; responsible for documenting student activity and incidences.
• Coordinate activities of dormitories including recreation and entertainment on and off center, dorm competitions, dorm courts, and after hours tutoring and learning activities
• Facilitate Career Success Standards (CSS) group sessions for students and provide guidance in CSS development; maintain documentation.
• Maintain required records and update CIS information on students on a regular and timely basis
• Function as center duty officer (CDO) as assigned.

Location: 1325 Iris Ave, Imperial Beach, CA 91932

Schedule: Varies , when needed. 3 pm - 12 am, 11:30 pm - 8:30 am

Job responsibilities:

Monitors students that live on residential floors to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the Center. Fosters an atmosphere conducive to character development through the encouragement of favorable behavior patterns. Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance in the event of injury, illness, traumatic experience, and emotionalism; responsible for documenting student activity and incidences.

Duties Include, But Not Limited To

• Monitor group living conditions, evaluate situation within the dormitories and make decisions and/or recommendations while ensuring safety and proper student behavior
• Perform duties involving student passes, leaves, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies and terminations for assigned shift.
• Communicate with families of students as required to resolve problems and assure the wellbeing of students.
• Coordinate activities of dormitories including recreation and entertainment on and off center, dorm competitions, dorm courts, and after hours tutoring and learning activities
• Facilitate Career Success Standards (CSS) group sessions for students and provide guidance in CSS development; maintain documentation.
