Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible General Surgeon to join the Department of Surgery. The role blends elective general surgery with acute care surgery, includes teaching medical students and residents, and involves shared on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery.
• Experience in general surgery, acute care surgery, foregut, abdominal wall reconstruction, hernia repair preferred.
• Commitment to academic medicine, teaching, mentorship, and research.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the District of Columbia.

Responsibilities

• Perform a mix of elective general surgery procedures (abdominal wall, foregut, hernia) and acute care surgery.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality surgical care.
• Teach medical students and residents as Georgetown University School of Medicine faculty.
• Share on-call coverage for acute care surgery.
