Job summary

Colorado College is seeking an Academic Administrative Assistant to support the Economics & Business department. You will partner with the department chair, faculty, and staff to handle teaching, research support, and day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth workflow and a welcoming environment.

You will manage budgets, coordinate events, assist with recruitment and student records, and liaise with campus partners. Strong communication, organization, and independent work are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Three years of general clerical or administrative experience, including at least one year supporting a department or program.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive learner with initiative.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and teams.
  • Capable of independent work and managing multiple deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Manage departmental budget, including operating, endowed/gift, and research funds; process reimbursements and journal entries.
  • Attend department meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes, and coordinate logistics including catering.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, training of staff and students; approve time sheets and supervise student workers.
  • Organize endowed lectures and visits; arrange rooms, catering, AV equipment, and travel as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Chair on student records, faculty reviews, and departmental processes; assist with faculty searches.
  • Coordinate with Registrar, HR, and other offices; serve as liaison between visitors, students, faculty, and community.
  • Edit and maintain the department website and communicate events and opportunities to majors and minors.
