Job summary

South Scioto Performance Academy (SSPA) is seeking an experienced Academic Coach to lead instructional improvement, support teachers, and help drive student growth across the school.

You will work side-by-side with teachers and school leadership to convert strong ideas into effective classroom practice and measurable outcomes. Bring your leadership and instructional expertise to a collaborative, student-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education and state licensure where applicable.
• Five years of successful teaching experience in grades to be served.
• Experience with curriculum, instruction, and assessment using Ohio standards.
• Proficient in computer applications (Google Docs, MS Office, email, internet).

Responsibilities

• Spend 50–60% of time on classroom coaching (planning, demonstration, observation, co-teaching, study of lessons).
• Spend 40–50% of time on coaching responsibilities (PD for staff, data review, staff development with Principal).
• Lead teacher development and serve as liaison with business office for GradeBook and attendance systems.
• Promote student motivation, self-efficacy, and engagement through targeted instruction.
• Support PBIS implementation and monitor attendance and student progress.
• Analyze student achievement and teacher data to drive instructional improvements.
• Develop lesson plans from approved curriculum using varied techniques and visuals.
• Tutor K-8 students as needed in reading and mathematics.
