Job summary

Wake Forest University seeks an Academic Coach and Access Specialist to support health sciences and law students across Reynolda Campus, Law School, BGCME, and Charlotte programs. The role coordinates disability accommodations, provides academic skills coaching, and advances student success initiatives for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Health Science and Charlotte Programs, this position emphasizes collaboration with law

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in education, psychology, counseling, higher education, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in higher education, student services, disability services, tutoring, coaching, advising, or a related student-support role
  • Knowledge of disability accommodation practices in higher education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive student information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to student success, access, and inclusive educational practices
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Comfort facilitating one-on-one student coaching conversations and small-group workshops

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic skills coaching to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across Wake Forest University.
  • Evaluate and interpret documentation of disabilities and provide recommendations for accommodations.
  • Coordinate and implement approved disability accommodations across Reynolda Campus, Law, Medicine, and Charlotte programs.
  • Serve as the primary contact for disability accommodations for Wake Forest University School of Law students.
  • Assist in managing accommodation requests by gathering documentation and tracking implementation.
  • Develop relationships with School of Law administrators, faculty, and staff to facilitate accommodations.
  • Assist with licensing and credentialing examination accommodations guidance.
