Job summary

Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis seeks an Associate Director to support academic and bar success programs for law students. You will assist with counseling, academic planning, and bar preparation, helping students navigate coursework, exams, and outcomes.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, collaboration with campus partners, and data-driven evaluation of program impact. This is an in-person position with a salary range stated by IU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, business, or related field.
• Juris doctor degree preferred.
• 5 years in student services, higher education, social work, counseling, law, or related field.
• Current or previous admission to a state bar in the U.S., preferably Indiana or a UBE jurisdiction; teaching, advising tutoring, counseling or related experience preferred.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual assistance and counseling, including regularly scheduled meetings, with students in academic difficulty and at‑risk students.
• Develops and monitors academic plans and recovery plans for individual students.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on exercises and practice exams.
• Advises at‑risk students on course selection.
• Assists in the oversight and management of the first‑year tutorial program.
• Plans and executes 2 bar weeks per academic year.
• Meets with and counsel students on their academic skills development.
• Develops and oversees the execution of individualized learning plans; and provide 1‑on‑1 assistance for at‑risk students.
• Tracks student success and academic performance for students in academic difficulty and at‑risk students.
• Utilizes Canvas e‑learning management system to help develop student skills and track student progress.
• Meets with and counsel students on preparing for the bar exam.
• Plans workshops and events related to academic and bar preparation. Plan and execute bar weeks per academic year.
• Assists with supplemental bar prep program, including conducting practice exam sessions, assists with skills and strategies workshops, and provides constructive feedback on essays and MPTs.
• Assists with collection and organization of data for long‑term assessment of: (a) student participation in Academic and Bar Success programming and course offerings, (b) individual student academic and bar exam performance, and (c) McKinney School of Law retention and bar passage rates.
