Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking an Anesthesiologist to provide perioperative care at VCU Health in Richmond, VA. The role covers preanesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthesia, postoperative rounds, resuscitation and ICU support, plus nerve blocks and chronic pain consultation.

Mentorship of CRNAs is included. Applicants must hold an MD or DO, be board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology, and be eligible for Virginia medical licensure.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification.
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
• Eligible for employment in the United States.
• Good communication, clinical and teaching skills.
• Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse environment at VCU.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical anesthesiology care to patients in main operating rooms and ambulatory areas.
• Direct anesthesia care and supervise CRNAs as appropriate.
• Deliver bedside teaching to residents, medical students, and other learners.
• Engage in research or scholarly activities within department guidelines.
