Job summary

Physician Affiliate Group of New York, PAGNY, is seeking an Anatomic Pathologist to join NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. This role offers the full spectrum of anatomic and clinical pathology in a large academic hospital setting.

You will interpret surgical pathology, cytology, and frozen sections with substantial diagnostic autonomy, and collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams while mentoring staff and students.

Qualifications

• Active New York State Medical License
• Board Certification or Eligibility in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
• At least 3 years of clinical experience

Responsibilities

• Practice the full spectrum of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in a dynamic, academic hospital environment.
• Interpret and sign out a wide variety of surgical pathology, cytology, and frozen section cases with a high level of diagnostic autonomy.
• Perform intraoperative consultations, autopsies, renal biopsy adequacy assessments, and critical result reporting while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
• Provide medical oversight and consultation to the clinical laboratories, including hematology, urinalysis, body fluid analysis, blood smear review, and reference laboratory testing.
• Supervise and mentor Pathologists' Assistants, laboratory staff, residents, fellows, and medical students, with dedicated opportunities for teaching and academic involvement.
• Collaborate with laboratory leadership to support operational excellence, accreditation standards, and proficiency testing across the laboratory.
