Job Description Under the supervision of the Department Chair of Systems Engineering and/or designated associate department chair, the Academic Advisor position will provide academic advising for graduate students majoring in Systems Engineering programs and assist with departmental administrative matters. This is a fixed-term position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027. This position will be four (4) days on campus and one (1) day working from home. The current on campus days are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Demonstrate capacity, skill, and willingness to engage students and contribute to student success. Clear verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work one-on-one with students effectively. Ability to partner with leadership to achieve the goals of the SE department’s strategic plan for the graduate programs. Strong project and time management skills. Ability to work independently to produce high-quality work, staying abreast of complex curricular information, policies, and procedures while organizing multiple tasks and setting priorities for action and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced office environment. Ability to collaborate and interact with faculty, students, and staff in a collegial and professional manner.
Department Systems Engineering Compensation Range In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the hourly base range for this position is $30-$36 per hour. This range represents the University’s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
