Job summary

San Diego State University (SDSU) is seeking an Academic Advisor in the College of Education’s Office of Student Services. You will provide front-line advising for minors, coordinate ACE admissions, and assist with student navigation to campus resources.

The role emphasizes collaboration, teaching and mentorship of student staff, and outreach to engage diverse student communities across the College of Education.

Qualifications

• Self-motivation to set work priorities and complete projects independently.
• Detail orientation to review transcripts, standards, and advising records.
• Knowledge of CSU and SDSU general education and graduation requirements.
• Strong writing and public speaking skills; ability to organize and present ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group advising to prospective and current students pursuing College of Education minors.
• Coordinate the ACE admissions process and communicate program requirements to prospective students.
• Assess student needs and connect them with advisors or campus resources according to policy.
• Train and mentor student staff; help manage OSS operations and coverage.
• Represent the College of Education in outreach events and student engagement activities.
• Communicate programs, events, and opportunities via OSS channels.
