The University of Alabama seeks an Academic Advisor II to guide students in academic progress, course selection, and university resources. You will explain policies, identify upcoming course requirements, and may teach compass courses while training entry-level advisors.
Additionally, you will provide proactive, holistic advising and case management for undecided freshmen in Crimson Edge and Exploring 4 Success programs, supporting their transition and success.
Pay Grade/Pay Range:Minimum: $49,100 - Midpoint: $61,400 (Salaried E7)

Normal Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Summary:The Academic Advisor II provides guidance to University students on academic progress, courses, University resources, etc. Identifies courses to be completed in upcoming semesters. Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of academic advising experience; OR master's degree and some academic advising experience.
Skills and Knowledge:Ability to work with various groups of people. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Public speaking skills. Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management. Good planning, coordinating, and organizing skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures. Knowledge of advising and academic management software (Banner, DegreeWorks, onBase, MS Office, etc).
Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree or at least 18 graduate semester hours in a teaching discipline in areas including STEM, Business, Higher Education, Student Development, or related fields. Experience advising, case managing and supporting undecided, undeclared, and/or exploratory students. Experience advising, case managing and supporting underprepared new freshmen students. Program design and development experience.
