  • Recruits prospective students by providing information on admission, degree requirements, career outlook, and CAH programs; serves as primary contact for prospective transfer students to Languages, Language and International Health and Language and International Business; coordinates events and special programs.
  • Provides supportive counseling and refers students to campus services; serves as liaison for parent inquiries; manages registration activities for advisees; evaluates transfer credits and advises on curriculum and policy.
  • Advises students in Languages, Language and International Health and Language and International Business on orientation, registration, course selection, transfer credits, and major changes; assigns faculty advisors and coordinates advisor development.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs professional duties in one or more student services program areas at an institution of higher education.

JOB DUTIES:
  • 15% - Liaising & Communication: Plans, implements and evaluates activities designed to retain students within CAH. Serve as the primary contact for the Clemson University Bridge to Clemson program and Success Matters program for assigned majors. Assists with the production of departmental recruiting brochures, materials, CAH displays, photos and publications in paper and social media. Assists with development and presentation of Pre-Departure Orientation for Department Directed Study Abroad Programs.
  • 15% - Recruiting & Outreach: Recruits prospective students to the College and assigned majors by providing accurate information concerning the admission process, degree requirements, career outlook and facts about CAH programs serving as primary contact for prospective transfer students to Languages, Language and International Health and Language and International Business. Participates in recruiting activities for the University, College and/or assigned majors. Centers as needed for the assigned departments. Coordinates with internal and external constituencies for all special events planning and implementation.
  • 20% - Counseling: Provides supportive counseling for a wide range of student problems and concern. Refers students to campus services. Following Federal guidelines, serves as a liaison for parent inquiries. Directs the registration activities for advisees. Evaluates and determines use in the curriculum of transfer credits from other Colleges and Universities. Provides input and accurate information on curriculum and advising issues. Provides support for faculty advisors. Monitors enrollment in each of the majors in line with departmental guidelines and capacities.
  • 50% - Advising: Plans, implements and evaluates activities related to the advising and counseling of students in Languages, Language and International Health and Language and International Business in a variety of areas, including recruiting, admissions, procedures, orientation, registration and course selection, academic progress, policy interpretation, career overviews, exam requirements, transfer credit, course substitutions, change of major and personal development. Advises students attending Department Directed Study Abroad Programs. Plans and implements new student orientation for students entering assigned majors as freshmen and transfer. Assigns faculty advisors to students in each major. Coordinates development of faculty academic advisors.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
