Job summary

San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business seeks an Academic Advisor (Student Services Professional II) to support about 8,500 undergraduate business students from enrollment through graduation. You will provide individual and group advising, interpret degree requirements, and guide students through policies, leveraging SDSU systems to track progress.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional experience in student services.
• Experience with advising a diverse student population.
• Experience explaining and interpreting academic policies governing a university.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive academic advising to current, prospective, and former students and graduation candidates through individual, group, virtual, phone, and email interactions.
• Guide students in understanding degree requirements, General Education, graduation requirements, academic policies, and progress toward degree completion.
• Counsel academically at-risk students and connect them with appropriate resources.
• Interpret academic records, degree evaluations, and university policies to address complex student situations and recommend appropriate courses of action.
• Collaborate with colleagues and campus partners to develop and enhance Center for Student Success programs, resources, and advising services.
