The University of Houston seeks an academic advisor in the Dean, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences department in Houston, TX. You will provide basic advising to undergraduate students, help with degree requirements and course selection, and refer students to tutoring, counseling, and financial aid resources.

With supervision, you will support registration, schedule planning, orientation and onboarding programs, maintain student records, and respond to routine inquiries.

Description:

8. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience will be considered in lieu of education.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience required.
