Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks a dynamic, student-centered, and forward-thinking Academic Advisor to provide visionary leadership.

The Academic Advisor for Undergraduate Students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott Campus, provides comprehensive academic guidance and student support within a rigorous, aviation and STEM focused learning environment. This role supports students from matriculation through graduation by assisting with academic planning, course selection, degree requirements, university policies, and institutional resources. Advisors work closely with faculty, student services, and campus partners to promote student success, retention, and timely degree completion while upholding Embry-Riddle's academic standards and mission.

The advisor serves as a primary point of contact for undergraduate students, offering individualized advising that aligns academic goals with career aspirations in aviation, aerospace, engineering, security, and related fields. Responsibilities include monitoring academic progress, interpreting degree audits, supporting students on academic probation or at risk, and providing guidance on registration, transfer credit, internships, and experiential learning opportunities. The position also contributes to orientation programs, outreach initiatives, and campus events, and maintains accurate advising records in compliance with university and accreditation requirements.

This role requires strong knowledge of Embry-Riddle Prescott academic programs, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support a diverse student population in a fast paced, mission driven campus environment.

Primary Job Functions, Duties, or Accountabilities
Foundations of Academic Advising
  • Assist students with registration, course selection, academic planning, schedule adjustments, and other program updates.
  • Refer students to appropriate university resources when questions arise.
  • Engage with the advising team for cross training.
  • Enforce university policies and procedures, ensuring students understand degree requirements, transfer credit policies, and the importance of co-curricular engagement.
  • Collaborate with faculty and other stakeholders to track student progress, identify at-risk students, and provide timely outreach.
  • Work with specified cohorts based off of your committee codes.
  • Ensure clear communication with fellow advisors by informing them of any interactions or work conducted with their assigned students.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and ethical advising practices.
  • Advisors must stay within their designated scope of responsibility and avoid involvement in decision-making outside their role.
Professional Responsibilities & Campus Engagement
  • Attend all required department meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities in person.
  • Participate in committees and campus initiatives as assigned.
  • Actively contribute to UNIV101 workshops.
  • Serve as a liaison to other departments (Admissions, Registrar, Housing, etc.), ensuring clear and appropriate communication.
  • Accurately maintain student records using university-approved technology and systems.
Support & Outreach
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing university-wide events such as New Student Orientation, Open House, and Spring Preview Day.
  • Represent the advising team at events, fostering connections with prospective and current students, parents, and campus partners.
  • Ensure that event participation aligns with the department's mission and objectives.
Student Outreach & Retention Strategies
  • Conduct targeted outreach to first-year students and students identified as academically at-risk.
  • Implement proactive strategies to engage and support students in achieving academic success.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of outreach efforts and follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with relevant campus colleges and departments to ensure a coordinated approach to student success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM subject, psychology, sociology, counseling, communication, education or other related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Student Support or Administrative roles.
Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is up to $46,000. The final offer will be based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.
