Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing academic advising services to Nursing students.

Responsibilities
  • Advises students. (60%)
    • Provides academic advisement to students.
    • Assists students in development educational and career plans.
    • Registers students for classes.
    • Assists students with course selection, registration, and schedule revision.
    • Monitors and tracks advisee progress.
    • Corresponds with students via telephone and email.
    • Refers students to campus and community resources.
    • Processes drop/add forms, withdrawal forms, registration, name changes, and changes in programs of study.
    • Monitors student alerts to provide support for students in need of support.
    • Assists students with the transfer process.
  • Participates in new student orientation. (10%)
    • Participates in new student orientation and registration activities.
    • Assists students with initial scheduling and with adjustment to academic life.
  • Assists in managing student records. (20%)
    • Updates all pre-nursing/nursing folders.
    • Prepares nursing student graduation paperwork.
    • Assists in reviewing new applications and in making acceptance decisions.
  • Performs related duties as assigned. (10%)
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required

Required Experience

More than three years of related experience required.

  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of issues and trends related to adult learners.
  • Knowledge of college registration procedures.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Associate Dean, College of Nursing & Health Sciences assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
