Job summary

University of Georgia in Athens seeks an Academic Advising Manager for the School of Social Work to lead advising services, supervise three advisors, and ensure high-quality, student-centered guidance across undergraduate and graduate programs.

You will interpret policies, coordinate workloads, monitor progress, and partner with faculty and leaders to support retention and degree completion.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent plus 10 years of professional experience to include 3 years of supervisory experience.
Demonstrated leadership of academic advising teams and academic programs.
Ability to interpret complex policies and apply them to student situations.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise three academic advisors across Athens/Gwinnett/online programs.
Provide leadership and direction to ensure consistent advising practices and student support.
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate advising personnel according to university policies.
Develop and maintain advising standards, procedures, workflows, and service expectations.
Coordinate workload, performance management, and professional development for advising staff.
Provide complex academic advising to students regarding degree requirements and progression.
Collaborate with program directors, faculty, and leadership on curriculum and enrollment issues.
Monitor advising data to support strategic planning and student success.
