Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer assists with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment as assigned. They participate in the preventative maintenance program, handle guest requests and other work orders, and perform trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing. Driving a shuttle van may be required when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license for the applicable state.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Property specific.
• One-year college or technical school certificate, or three to six months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.
• Basic knowledge and experience in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repair, painting, and HVAC systems preferred.
• Demonstrated accuracy and meticulousness; monitors own work for quality and incorporates feedback.
• Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes and new procedures.
• Knowledge of safety management principles and federal/state OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
• Change light bulbs and perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms, including vinyl repair, touch‑up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guestrooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool, and hot tub.
• Perform plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and supplies; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment as requested.
• Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine location, cause, and emergency status; report findings to the Front Desk.
• Access back‑of‑house areas and manage sensitive information.
• Interact with guests and colleagues, occasionally unsupervised.
• Control access to sensitive areas, including the hotel safe, master keys, guestrooms, storage/liqueur room, and secured file cabinets.
• Drive safely for company business purposes.
• Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility.
• Represent the company with reputation and good character; exercise sound judgment.
• Perform additional tasks/jobs assigned by the supervisor or manager.
