Job summary

City of Norfolk seeks a Total Absence Management Analyst to oversee absence and disability management for employees, including FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and related policies. The role requires strong analytical skills and experience in public-sector HR, with responsibilities spanning vendor management and data reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a general professional or technical field.
• One year of experience in Human Resources; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of two years experience in Human Resources with a focus on absence management and disability.

Responsibilities

• Ensure program compliance with ADA, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and related regulations.
• Manage the City’s Workers’ Compensation self-funded program and vendor relations.
• Coordinate ADA accommodation requests and document decisions per regulations.
• Coordinate FMLA claims and ensure proper designation and communication.
• Develop trainings and presentations on absence, safety, and disability programs.
• Represent the City during hearings and stakeholder meetings.
