Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid Level S/4HANA SAP ABAP Developer to support a Greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation for a large government contract. This remote role supports a Washington, DC based customer and requires a Public Trust clearance.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of SAP ABAP experience, S/4HANA expertise, and hands-on integration of backend SAP with non-SAP applications. Strong debugging, performance tuning, and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Implementation experience with SAP Fiori and SAP BTP.
• Proficiency in web services, proxies, and APIs for system integration.
• ABAP technologies including Reports, RFCs, Forms, OOP, BAPIs, Enhancements, BADIs, User Exits, Data Conversions (BDC, LSMW, IDocs, ALE, Workflows).
• Strong debugging and performance tuning of ABAP programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Public Trust clearance
• Ability to self-learn new UI technologies with minimal direction

Job description

SMX is seeking Mid Level S/4HANA SAP ABAP Developers to support an SAP S/4HANA Greenfield implementation project for a large government contract. As a Mid-Level Developer, you will actively participate in every stage of the application lifecycle, from design to deployment. This role is remote supporting a Washington, DC based customer and requires a Public Trust clearance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Due to contract requirements, this position requires U.S. citizenship and the successful completion of a background check prior to onboarding. Candidates must also be able to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance.
• Years of SAP ABAP development and overall SAP experience: 3-5 years for mid-level, 6+ years for senior level.
• Experience with S/4HANA.
• Hands-on experience integrating backend SAP and non SAP applications.
• Hands-on experience with SAP ABAP development and HANA CDS Views.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Implementation experience with SAP Fiori and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
• Proficiency in working with web services, proxies, and APIs for seamless system integration.
• Technical expertise and hands-on experience with a wide range of ABAP technologies, including Reports, RFCs, Forms, Object-Oriented ABAP (OOP), BAPIs, Enhancements, BADIs, User Exits, Customer Exits, and Data Conversions (BDC, LSMW, IDocs, ALE, and Workflows).
• Strong debugging and performance tuning of ABAP programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non technical audiences.
• Ability to analyze problems and provide clear recommendations.
• Public Trust clearance
• Ability to self-learn new technologies in the UI space with minimal direction and supervision.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
• Certifications in Application Development, SAP BTP, or Agile methodologies.

The proposed salary for this position is:

$96,400-$160,600 USD
