Job summary

Cheshire Public Schools seeks an ABA/DTI Paraeducator for the Bridges program at Doolittle Elementary School. This 30-hour position supports elementary students with emotionally based disabilities under supervision of the BCBA, school psychologist and teachers.

The role involves implementing instructions, following behavior plans, data collection and collaboration in IEP goals. Strong communication and willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; new graduates encouraged to apply.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education or related field preferred.
• Experience with children with autism or behavioral challenges is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Implement individual and small group instruction following IEP goals.
• Implement lesson plans to support student success in all settings.
• Manage and organize lesson materials and prep work for students.
• Collect data and maintain documentation for each student.
• Follow behavior intervention plans under supervision of BCBA and specialists.

Description

The Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA)/DTI Paraeducator works in a special education program with elementary aged children at Doolittle School with emotionally based disabilities under the direction of the special education teachers and school psychologist.

The ABA/DTI Paraeducator Will Be Able To

• Implement individual and small group instruction to students with specific behavior programs
• Implement lesson plans developed by the special education teacher, school psychologist or BCBA to support student success in all school settings
• Be responsible for managing and organizing lesson materials, preparations and other functions to support each students individualized education plan (IEP)
• Be responsible for data collection and maintaining documentation for each student.
• Be responsible for following behavior intervention plans under the supervision of the, school psychologist, BCBA and special education teacher.
• Participate in ongoing professional learning

Special Education Supervisor and/or School Principal

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a high school diploma. (New College Grads encouraged to apply!!! Good experience for future psychologists, social workers and special education teachers.)

Preferred But Not Necessary

• Associates and/or or Bachelors degree in Psychology, Special Education or related field.
• Experience working directly with children with autism and/or behavioral challenges within a behavioral program preferred .
• PMT or similar training

Salary

In accordance with the Agreement Between Cheshire Board of Education and CSEA/SEIU Local 2001/760 in Behalf of the Cheshire Paraeducators and Lunchroom/Playground Aides. Starting Salary $25.87/hour. Benefits Available.
