Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in education.
  • Current and valid Virginia teaching license with endorsement in at least one disability area served.
  • MS degree in Special Education K-12 and Virginia teaching certification preferred.
  • One or more years classroom experience with students with special education needs.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Outlook, Internet research, assistive technology and MS Office.
  • Valid VA driver's license with excellent driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing assessment of students' academic needs and design lesson plans.
  • Oversee implementation of lesson plans and support classroom staff in managing behaviors.
  • Supervise assigned Instructional Assistants and Counselors.
  • Lead IEP meetings and communicate progress to guardians/parents.
  • Coordinate with treatment team and participate in treatment decisions.
