Job summary

Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 in Aurora, IL seeks a Behavior Support Assistant to implement behavioral strategies for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs using ABA principles. This is a full‑time position (FTE 1.0) with travel between two or more buildings.

Responsibilities include adapting activities and materials, coordinating with staff to evaluate progress, and monitoring students to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Educator License qualifying for a Paraprofessional is required.
• Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician is required.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities in an educational setting is required.
• ABA knowledge and behavior support experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under supervision to support objectives.
• Communicates with supervising staff to assist in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Monitors students during periods in various school environments to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Provides instruction to students under supervision to reinforce objectives and IEP plans.
• Assist teachers to support students in accessing the school setting in LRE.
• Implement ABA-based behavioral programming and humanistic strategies.
• Create materials to provide behavioral supports aligned with programs.
• Assist in collecting behavioral data and delivering ABA-based interventions.
• Support students during transitions and daily routines to optimize social interactions.
• Assist in managing behavioral crisis situations.
• Support adaptive living skills such as toileting, feeding, dressing.
