Job summary

The Office of the Attorney General in Augusta seeks an Assistant Attorney General to join the Health and Human Services Division. The role supports the DHHS Office of Aging and Disability Services and Adult Protective Services in guardianship and related court matters, including Probate and District Court involuntary commitment hearings.

Applicants must be admitted to the Maine Bar in good standing and have strong litigation and writing skills.

Qualifications

• Members of the Maine Bar in good standing.
• Strong legal advocacy and writing skills.
• One to three years of legal practice in civil litigation and/or health care law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent the DHHS Office of Aging and Disability Services, Adult Protective Services, in guardianship and related matters.
• Appear in Probate and other courts.
• Represent DHHS in District Court hearings with involuntary commitment applications.
