Job summary

The Vermont Office of the Attorney General, Department for Children and Families, Family Services Legal Division, has an immediate opening for an energetic and talented full-time Assistant Attorney General who will be responsible for representing the Department for Children and Families before the Human Services Board.

The responsibilities include litigating Family Division cases before the Vermont Superior Courts and representing the Department in administrative appeals before the Human

Qualifications

• Member in good standing of the Vermont bar, or eligible to waive in.
• Preference for applicants with Vermont experience and litigation background.
• Excellent oral and written communication; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Litigate Family Division cases before Vermont Superior Courts.
• Represent the Department in administrative appeals before the Human Services Board.
• Perform contract review and related administrative legal work.
• Train family service workers in all aspects of the litigation process.
• Travel across the state as required.
