Job summary

AAA Mountain West Group is hiring tow operators to assist members with roadside emergencies in Reno, NV. You will operate tow trucks, assess basic vehicle issues, and provide tire changes, fuel delivery, and lock-out services. No prior towing experience is required as full training is provided.

The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and calm communication under pressure. Flexible shifts include weekends, with guaranteed hours and opportunities for bonuses based on performance.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• No towing experience required; paid training provided.
• Willingness to work the listed shifts (Sat-Wed; training period).

Responsibilities

• Operate tow trucks safely and efficiently.
• Perform basic vehicle diagnostics to identify issues.
• Provide roadside assistance: tire changes, fuel delivery, lock-outs.
• Build trust and calmly assist members on scene.
• Communicate clearly under pressure; both verbal and written.
• Demonstrate problem solving and listening to ensure safety.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

• Operating tow trucks safely and efficiently.
• Performing simple vehicle diagnostics to figure out the issue.
• Providing essential roadside assistance, including tire changes, fuel delivery, and vehicle lock-outs.
• Building trust, problem-solving, and being a calming presence for our members on the scene.
• Clear and proficient verbal and written communication even under pressure
• Common knowledge of vehicle components and the common reasons for vehicle failure
• Demonstrates problem solving and listening skills to evaluate member safety as well as the ability to discern safety issues and respond appropriately
• Ability to drive a manual/automatic shift vehicle

What We Are Looking For

No prior towing experience required! We provide top-tier, paid training for the role. A customer-first mindset and a passion for helping people. Willingness and flexibility to work the 8am, 11am, 1pm, or 3:00 PM – Midnight, including weekends. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (where applicable).

Education & Experience/Licenses & Certification/ Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

• Works outdoors at vehicle sites when servicing vehicles.
• Lifting and carrying tires and parts, weighing up to 50 pounds, several times a day; bending, kneeling and stooping as required for service calls.
• Works in all weather and all traffic conditions.
• Vehicle recovery sites may be wet, messy and hazardous.
