Job summary

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking an Aircraft Design Support Engineer to join our Engineering department in Mobile, AL. The role focuses on developing, justifying, and engineering approval of design solutions for primary and secondary structures, interfacing shop floor operations with global design offices and Chief Engineering networks.

The position covers metallic and composite airframe structures across relevant ATA chapters, ensuring deviations and concessions are permanently resolved

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in aircraft structure design engineering support.
• Expert knowledge of primary and secondary airframe structures design and repair.
• Understanding of Airbus design principles, procedures, and tools.
• Ability to navigate Structural Repair Manual (SRM), AMM, and IPC.
• Solid change management and non-conformity handling experience.
• Eligible for employment in the US; willing to travel up to 10% domestically and overseas.

Responsibilities

• Author, validate, and authorize technical solutions, repair drawings, rework instructions, and design datasets within primary and secondary structures.
• Ensure airworthiness and compliance with safety standards across released engineering files.
• Provide on-site structural engineering support from initial section delivery to final delivery flight.
• Collaborate with Airbus Design Offices and local manufacturing to resolve complex structural issues.
• Represent the engineering perimeter on shop floor interfaces and mentor team members.
