Job summary

Convene Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced A1 Audio Engineer for live events in New York City. The role spans part-time to full-time shifts with an hourly rate of $55 and a 10-hour minimum guarantee per shift.

You will manage and operate all aspects of audio production to deliver high-quality sound for meetings, conferences, and premium events. You’ll set up and test gear, optimize sound, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with coordinators to exceed client expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an A1 Audio Engineer or similar role in a hospitality or events setting.
• Proficiency in operating audio equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, speakers, Dante Network management, and playback devices.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong ear for sound quality and precision.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve technical issues.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members and clients.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
• A degree or certification in audio engineering, sound design, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Audio setup, testing, and operation of live event sound systems, including mics, speakers, and mixers.
• Manage sound quality by adjusting levels and EQ during events.
• Troubleshoot audio issues quickly to minimize disruptions.
• Collaborate with event coordinators and staff to meet audio requirements.
• Maintain and inspect audio equipment regularly.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members and clients.
• Document audio setups and inventory.
• Follow safety protocols for all staff and guests.
