Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an experienced A&P Mechanic for ISR aircraft modifications in a fast-paced hangar environment in Maryland. You will repair, replace, and maintain aircraft components, perform functional checks, and test parts to ensure safe operation for C-12 and Bombardier Global platforms.

Up to 25% travel is required. Key responsibilities include wiring harness fabrication, connector termination, and working with avionics systems, following FAA Part 145 procedures and approved data.

Job Title: A&P Mechanic
Job Description

This role focuses on performing military ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) modifications on a variety of aircraft, including C-12 and Bombardier Global platforms. You will repair, replace, and maintain key aircraft components, conduct mechanical and functional checks, and test and replace defective or faulty parts to ensure safe and reliable operation. The position includes up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Perform military ISR modifications on various aircraft such as C-12 and Bombardier Global models in accordance with approved technical data and procedures.
  • Carry out heavy maintenance tasks on aircraft airframes and engines, including inspections, repairs, and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and functional components of aircraft, ensuring all systems operate safely and efficiently.
  • Test, identify, and replace defective or faulty parts and components to restore aircraft to serviceable condition.
  • Fabricate, install, and modify wire harnesses and associated components to support aircraft modification and avionics integration.
  • Terminate and install connectors including COAX, CIR-MIL, RJ-45 network, D-SUB, avionic connectors, and other related hardware.
  • Work with avionics systems during modification and maintenance activities, following applicable standards and documentation.
  • Interpret and apply technical drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and manuals to perform accurate maintenance and modification tasks.
  • Follow work orders and task assignments and complete all required work within designated timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Use personal tools and equipment safely and effectively while adhering to maintenance and repair station procedures.
  • Comply with all regulatory, safety, and quality requirements associated with working in a hangar and FAA Part 145 repair station environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and modifications completed as required by company and regulatory standards.
  • Support multiple shifts and schedules as needed, demonstrating flexibility to meet operational and project demands.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time to support aircraft modification and maintenance activities at other locations as required.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience repairing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.
  • Active A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) License.
  • Hands-on experience with heavy aircraft maintenance and modification work.
  • Proficiency in aircraft modification tasks, including structural and systems changes.
  • Experience with wire harness fabrication, installation, and routing on aircraft.
  • Ability to terminate and work with COAX, CIR-MIL, RJ-45 network, D-SUB, and avionic connectors.
  • Working knowledge of avionics systems in the context of aircraft maintenance and modification.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English to understand and follow technical instructions and documentation.
  • Strong ability to interpret and understand technical drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by program needs.
  • Clean driving record suitable for work-related travel and transportation requirements.
  • Must provide and effectively use own tools appropriate for aircraft maintenance and modification work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferred experience working in an FAA Part 145 repair station environment.
  • Experience in military or ISR-related aircraft modifications is beneficial.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced maintenance or modification setting with strict timelines.

Work Environment

This is a Contract position based out of Hagerstown, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
