Qualifications

  • Active, current FAA A&P certification with no prior FAA violations.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Typically 6+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals.
  • Must be able to pass Class 3 Physical and hearing test.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft maintenance, repairs, modifications, replacements, and inspections per data.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues on airframes and engines.

Location: Hagerstown, MD
Duration: Contract
Pay Rate: $60.58 HR
Schedule: Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)

Role Overview

Our Aerospace and Defense client is seeking an experienced A&P Mechanic IVto support aircraft maintenance, repair, inspection, troubleshooting, and modification activities in an aerospace and defense environment.

The A&P Mechanic IVwill perform maintenance and repair of aircraft airframes, engines, and related mechanical and functional systems.

This role requires strong knowledge of aviation maintenance practices, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on aircraft maintenance experience and be comfortable working in a safety-sensitive environment with the ability to work overtime, weekends, different shifts, and travel as required.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform aircraft maintenance, repairs, modifications, replacements, and inspections in accordance with approved technical data and established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and functional issues involving aircraft airframes, engines, components, and systems.
  • Inspect, test, remove, replace, and repair defective or faulty aircraft parts and components.
  • Perform functional checks and operational tests following maintenance and repair activities.
  • Interpret and work from technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, aircraft manuals, maintenance publications, and engineering documentation.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, precision tools, test equipment, and specialized aircraft maintenance equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable national and international standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection documentation, and required technical paperwork.
  • Identify maintenance discrepancies and assist with determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support aircraft inspections and return-to-service activities as authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hangar or work environment.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures when working around aircraft, machinery, hazardous materials, and other potentially dangerous equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with other mechanics, inspectors, engineers, supervisors, and program personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to aircraft maintenance, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Travel and work different shifts, overtime, weekends, or extended hours as required by program needs.
Required Skills
  • Active, current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification with no prior FAA violations.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Typically 6+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Advanced hands-on skills in repairing, maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting aircraft airframes and/or engines.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and applicable maintenance publications.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations.
  • Must provide and maintain personal tools in good working condition appropriate for aircraft maintenance.
  • Ability to successfully pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance practices, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in an FAA repair station environment.
  • FAA Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
  • Aerospace and Defense industry experience.
  • U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. military aviation experience.
  • Experience working on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Experience with aircraft inspections, modifications, overhaul, or heavy maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance, if required by the program.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly.
  • Flexibility to work multiple shifts, overtime, weekends, and extended schedules.
  • Related professional experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
