Position Summary

The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and executing market growth strategies to increase hospice admissions and strengthen referral relationships throughout the assigned territory. This individual will lead business development efforts, manage key referral accounts, identify new partnership opportunities, and work closely with operational and clinical leadership to achieve growth objectives.

The ideal candidate is an experienced hospice sales leader with a proven track record of building referral networks, mentoring sales professionals, and consistently delivering census growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve census and revenue goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, senior living communities, physician groups, case managers, and other referral sources
  • Identify new market opportunities and expand referral partnerships throughout the territory
  • Lead, mentor, and support business development team members
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and referral patterns
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to ensure exceptional customer service and referral source satisfaction
  • Track sales activity, referral development efforts, and key performance metrics
  • Participate in community outreach, networking events, and industry associations
  • Maintain a strong understanding of hospice regulations, reimbursement, and industry trends
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Healthcare business development experience
  • Prior hospice business development experience strongly preferred
  • Experience leading or mentoring sales and business development professionals
  • Demonstrated success growing census and referral relationships
  • Strong understanding of the post-acute care continuum
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to analyze market data and develop growth strategies
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the market
