Job description

TEAMSOS provides mission-critical public safety technology and services to agencies throughout California. Our portfolio includes cloud-based Next Generation 911 (NG911) call handling, emergency communications, GIS and CAD integrations, AI-assisted dispatch capabilities, Text-to-911, remote call taking, disaster recovery, managed services, consulting, implementation, and training.

Position Summary

The 911 Public Safety Solutions Consultant develops trusted relationships with California Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), Emergency Communications Centers, public safety agencies, and city and county stakeholders.

The consultant uses firsthand 911 operations knowledge to help agencies evaluate, plan, procure, and implement modern emergency communications solutions while driving sustainable revenue for TEAMSOS.

This is a consultative sales role for a respected 911 professional who can connect operational realities with technology, procurement, and business outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

Account Development and Revenue Growth

  • Build, manage, and advance a qualified statewide pipeline of PSAP, emergency communications, and public safety opportunities.
  • Develop trusted relationships with 911 directors, managers, supervisors, dispatch personnel, technical teams, procurement officials, and executive stakeholders.
  • Identify new-logo, replacement, modernization, expansion, managed-service, consulting, implementation, and training opportunities within TEAMSOS’s current business model.
  • Own opportunity follow-up from initial outreach through discovery, proposal, procurement, close, implementation handoff, and post-sale account development.
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity, account plans, opportunity stages, next steps, probability, expected revenue, and forecast timing.

Discovery, Demonstrations, and Solution Consulting

  • Meet with California PSAP and agency stakeholders to understand operational challenges, technical environments, funding, timelines, procurement requirements, and desired outcomes.
  • Present and demonstrate TEAMSOS cloud-based NG911 call handling and related public safety solutions to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Serve as a credible advisor on NG911 modernization, cloud migration, continuity of operations, remote call taking, interoperability, and emergency communications resilience.
  • Differentiate TEAMSOS’s solutions, address objections, communicate operational and business value, and guide customers toward clear next steps.

Proposals, Procurement, and Internal Coordination

  • Prepare or coordinate proposals, pricing packages, statements of work, RFP responses, presentations, and other sales documentation.
  • Support customers navigating public-sector purchasing vehicles and processes, including CMAS, CALNET, IT-MSA, competitive procurements, and agency-specific requirements when applicable.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, implementation, service, vendor, and leadership teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound, deliverable, and financially responsible.
  • Create clear handoff documentation and remain engaged through implementation to protect customer expectations and long-term account value.

Industry and Market Leadership

  • Represent TEAMSOS professionally at APCO, NENA, CalNENA, customer meetings, regional events, conferences, and other public safety forums.
  • Maintain awareness of California 911 initiatives, NG911 trends, funding programs, procurement developments, competitor activity, and customer priorities.
  • Capture market feedback and recurring customer needs and communicate recommendations that improve TEAMSOS offerings, messaging, partnerships, and service delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in a 911 communications center, PSAP, emergency communications management, public safety technology, or a closely related environment.
  • Strong understanding of California 911 operations, PSAP workflows, stakeholder needs, and current modernization priorities.
  • Working knowledge of NG911 architecture, cloud-based call handling, and the operational considerations involved in modernizing mission-critical systems.
  • Experience with one or more adjacent technologies such as CAD, GIS, radio, telephony, networking, logging/recording, cybersecurity, or emergency communications integrations.
  • Demonstrated consultative sales, account development, business development, or customer advisory capability, including the confidence to ask for the business.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, demonstration, and relationship-building skills with both technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a statewide territory, prioritize multiple opportunities, and coordinate cross-functional resources.
  • Proficiency with CRM, productivity, presentation, proposal, and virtual-meeting tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements. Driving is an essential function because the role regularly requires efficient travel to PSAPs, agency offices, demonstrations, and industry events across California where alternative transportation would not be comparable in time or cost.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout California, including overnight travel and occasional work outside standard business hours when customer or event requirements demand it.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience implementing, managing, supporting, evaluating, or procuring NG911 or emergency communications systems in California.
  • Experience with Motorola VESTA, Solacom, AXON/Carbyne, Intrado, AT&T ESInet, RapidSOS, NGA 911, or comparable platforms and services.
  • Experience with public safety GIS, CAD integrations, Text-to-911, remote call taking, disaster recovery, AI-assisted emergency communications, or managed services.
  • Knowledge of public safety procurement, RFP development and evaluation, California state contracts, CMAS, CALNET, IT-MSA, or local-government purchasing processes.
  • APCO, NENA, ENP, RPL, emergency communications, project-management, technical, or manufacturer certifications.
  • Established professional relationships within the California 911 and emergency communications community.

TEAMSOS Solutions Portfolio

  • Cloud-based NG911 call handling and Next Generation 911 solutions.
  • AI-assisted emergency communications, GIS integration, and CAD integration.
  • Text-to-911, remote call taking, continuity of operations, and disaster recovery.
  • Managed services, public safety consulting, implementation, and training.

Performance Measures

  • Qualified pipeline created, sales activity, opportunity progression, forecast accuracy, win rate, revenue closed, and gross-margin contribution.
  • New customer acquisition, expansion within existing accounts, recurring-service growth, and long-term account value.
  • Customer trust, responsiveness, demonstration effectiveness, proposal quality, and successful sales-to-delivery handoffs.
  • Territory coverage, CRM discipline, industry engagement, and achievement of assigned business-plan goals.

Physical and Work Requirements

The following essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Travel by car or air to PSAPs, government facilities, customer meetings, demonstrations, and industry events throughout California.
  • Work for extended periods using a computer, telephone, presentation equipment, and virtual-meeting tools.
  • Transport and set up reasonable demonstration, presentation, and event materials and work in active public safety facilities subject to applicable access and safety requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Pay: $85,000–$100,000 annual base salary plus commission. This is a full-time, exempt position. The stated base salary is the amount TEAMSOS reasonably expects to pay upon hire.

Incentive Compensation: Eligible for uncapped commission and/or performance bonuses under a separate written compensation plan that explains how commissions and incentives are calculated and earned.

Benefits: Health benefits, flexible remote work, and paid or reimbursed business travel in accordance with applicable law and company procedures.

Travel and Expenses: Required business travel time will be compensated as required by applicable law. TEAMSOS will provide or reimburse reasonable and necessary business expenses, including approved transportation, lodging, mileage, parking, tolls, and other required expenses, in accordance with applicable law and company procedures.
