Job summary

City of Turlock is seeking an entry-level Emergency Services Dispatcher Trainee to learn 911 call taking and dispatch duties for the Police and Fire Departments.

Under immediate supervision, you will undergo on-the-job training for about four months, with promotion opportunities to Emergency Services Dispatcher I after meeting performance standards and completing required POST coursework. The position may involve overtime and a rotating shift schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Successful completion of POST Entry-Level Dispatcher test (or required by policy).

Responsibilities

• Operate the CAD system and track events and times.
• Receive and dispatch 911 and other calls.
• Input data into CLETS/NCIC databases.
• Prioritize calls and dispatch appropriate personnel.
• Perform clerical duties in the Communications Center.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Testify in court for calls handled.
• Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Maintain records of warrants and court-related documents.
