Job summary

Dodge County is hiring a part-time, non-exempt Public Safety Dispatcher to assist the public by dispatching law enforcement, fire, and EMS units. The role requires calm, accurate call handling, rapid decisions, and proficiency with CAD, radios, and RMS documentation.

Hours vary including days, nights and weekends; starting wage range is $26.32–$28.97 per hour. The position opens until filled and involves mandatory after-hours availability when needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to use GPS and GIS data relating to county landmarks, roads, and businesses.
• Knowledge of CAD system functions, call types, and codes for dispatch.
• Ability to learn and coordinate with multiple agencies in 911 operations.
• Knowledge of the County Paging system for Fire/EMS services.
• Ability to think quickly and act calmly in emergency situations and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency calls via CAD, determine nature and location, and dispatch units per procedures.
• Transmit and receive messages using public safety radios and data terminals.
• Monitor status and location of on-duty units and coordinate responses.
• Provide basic life support instructions and scene safety guidance as needed.
• Enter and maintain accurate event records in RMS and communicate essential details.
