Job summary

MetLife in the United States is seeking a Sales Trainee to join the Group Benefits team. You will complete a nine-month training program blending structured classroom learning with on-the-job development, aimed at preparing you for an account executive role within Group Benefits Sales.

You will build skills in communication, negotiation, and relationship management while gaining understanding of Disability, Dental, Life, Auto & Home, MetLife Legal, and Critical Illness products.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of brokers, customers, and competitive landscape.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship skills.
• Willingness to relocate prior to and upon completion of the program.
• Ability to travel and drive to meetings with internal and/or external partners.
• 0-5 years of related work experience.
• Ability to obtain Life, Accident and Health, and Property & Casualty licenses.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and complete the Sales Academy Program including trainings by subject matter experts across Group Benefits.
• Support the sales office by meeting with brokers or customers, making cold calls, conducting enrollment meetings or benefit fairs, and assisting account executives with territories.
• Build sales competencies—communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
• Develop an understanding of the Group Benefits products and services including Disability, Dental, Life, Auto & Home, MetLife Legal, and Critical Illness.
• Work effectively with a mentor to learn about MetLife's products and services.
• Ability to use approved AI tools to support routine tasks such as drafting, summarizing, organizing information and improving day-to-day efficiency.
• Working knowledge of AI capabilities with the ability to evaluate and validate outputs with guidance.
