Job summary

Virginia Western Community College is seeking a nine-month English faculty member to teach approximately 15 credits per semester, with possible distance-learning courses.

In addition to teaching, the incumbent will advise students, serve on college committees, and participate in activities that support the college’s mission. Start is Spring 2027 with strong emphasis on ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English, or related field, or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours in English.
• Teaching experience in a community college setting.
• Experience using classroom technology and hybrid/distance-learning formats.

Responsibilities

• Teach a load of approximately 15 credits per semester, including online and on-/off-campus courses.
• Advise students and participate in college committees and activities that support the college mission.
• Maintain currency in teaching discipline and participate in institutional effectiveness activities.
