Job summary

Germanna Community College seeks an English Adjunct for the 2027 academic year to teach English both in person and online. Adjuncts teach up to 12 credits in fall/spring and up to 8 credits in summer. Hiring is for anticipated needs; actual assignments contingent on enrollment and funding.

Position based in Virginia (Fredericksburg area). Must reside within commuting distance or relocate to ensure attendance.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in English.
• Ability to effectively teach classrooms and online
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral/written communication skills
• Ability to use instructional technology
• Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
