County of Santa Clara is seeking a 9-1-1 Dispatcher in a training capacity to answer calls and dispatch personnel and equipment for public safety operations. This role offers the chance to begin a career in emergency communications with structured training.

As Communications Dispatcher I - U, you will participate in the Basic Communications Dispatcher Academy, with potential progression to a probationary position.

Qualifications

• Customer service and interpersonal communications principles.
• High school diploma with one year of public contact and/or heavy telephone traffic.
• Pass background, fingerprints, polygraph, psychological and medical examinations as part of POST requirements.

Responsabilités

• Receives training in the reception and transmission of radio calls.
• Operates a variety of communications equipment including radio base stations, consoles, handhelds, telephone, and other equipment.
• Monitors public safety frequencies and data communication terminals.
• Records the nature and source of all radio messages as required.
• May be trained in other dispatching communities after proficiency in 9-1-1 call answering and law dispatching.
• Keeps up with continuing education and maintains CAD system proficiency.
