POSITION LOCATION: Tallahassee, FL (relocation benefits are not available for this position)
This position independently performs advanced level work under limited supervision the Economic Consultant – SES in the Economic Analysis and Information Delivery Section. Incumbent will conduct complex economic research studies and analysis, compiles economic data for various assignments, and distributes and/or presents information to the public. In addition, this position is responsible for researching the appropriate data sources and methodologies to be used in major quantitative and qualitative research projects that are relevant to the agency’s goals and objectives. Data sources and methodologies recommended should be based on industry standards and best practices.
Maintains up to date on existing and new resources relevant to their responsibilities, including but not limited to data sources, methodologies, research findings, and software tools. Actively follows current events and policy debates pertinent to national, state, and local labor markets.
Provides input and expert insight for highly visible policy issues. This includes defining and/or framing issues, identifying appropriate methodologies, and requesting, facilitating, or conducting research and analysis.
Designs, manages and conducts major quantitative and qualitative research projects from inception to publication, that are relevant to the agency’s goals and objectives. Takes initiative to propose relevant project ideas and complete them if approved. Projects may include applying econometric techniques to predict economic trends, agency program evaluation or historical analyses of demographic employment patterns, as well as internal process improvements...
Takes a leadership role on team projects, including providing expert guidance to others as needed, and coordinating team members’ activities when appropriate.
Produces high-quality written analyses, reports, and visualizations for use both internally and externally.
Prepares and delivers compelling presentations of findings and recommendations
Responds to research and data requests by building and analyzing economic, demographic and employment data using spreadsheets, programming, and statistical modeling.
Synthesizes large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data to identify critical insights and explain in simplified language to ensure clarity and avoid the use of overly technical language.
Collaborates with diverse teams, agency partners and internal and external customers in gathering user requirements and conducting agency related data analysis.
Maintains detailed documentation of assumptions, methodologies, coding notation and information sources utilized during the performance of all analytical tasks. Produces outcome reports for all completed projects.
Performs other duties as required.

This Economic Consultant serves as a senior economist on the Labor Market Analysis team in the Bureau of Workforce Statistics and Economic Research (WSER), Division of Workforce Services.
This position takes a leading role on projects pertaining to economic, demographic, and employment research and analysis using programming, model building, statistics and regression techniques. They use strong relationship and communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams, agency partners and internal and external customers.
