Job summary

Thompson Middle School, part of Saginaw Public Schools, is seeking a 7th Grade Basketball Coach to lead the basketball program, recruit within the school, train players, and coach the team. The role includes organizing practices, managing equipment, and coordinating with the athletic director, parents, and administrators.

Minimum qualifications include 2 years of verifiable basketball coaching experience (preferred) and First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• 2 years verifiable age equivalent basketball coaching experience preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification required for coaching.
• Proven track record in age-appropriate skill and program development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordination of the development and promotion of the Basketball program.
• Maintain constant check of student athlete's grades and conduct.
• Assess player's skill and assign team positions.
• Organize and schedule practice sessions.
• Teach life skills and develop character.
• Effectively communicate with the athletic director, parents, players, and administrators.
• Determine game strategy based on the team's capabilities.
• Maintain and secure all Basketball equipment and uniforms.
• Manage court care and maintenance
• Attend staff development meetings and other relevant activities
