Qualifications

• DESE licensure required for Mild/Moderate Special Needs
• Bachelor degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests
• Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and set clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects
• Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting objectives
• Assess student progress regularly and provide progress reports
• Diagnose learning disabilities and seek district specialist assistance as required
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regularly
• Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct
• Assist administration in implementing District goals and policies for educational and operational needs
• Attend staff or team meetings and serve on committees
• Maintain and improve professional competence
• Perform other related tasks as directed by the principal or designee
