Job summary

The Academies of Math and Science (AMS) in Peoria, AZ seeks a passionate 6th Grade Science Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and foster scientific inquiry. You will use data to drive planning and support diverse learners, joining a collaborative on-site team dedicated to high expectations and equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field OR AZ teaching certification.
• Pass required background checks and obtain IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
• Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction.
• Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students above and below grade level.
• Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and interventions.
• Foster inquiry-based learning and hands-on scientific exploration.
• Establish and maintain a structured, positive, high-expectations classroom environment.
• Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
